Grilled Chicken Wings recipe

The recipe for grilled chicken wings is usually a winner! Before a party, I grill them and keep them warm in a low oven. Frank's Red-hot sauce is what I always use. It is flavorful and not overly spicy.

Ingredients

Wings:

  • 3 pounds chicken wings, sliced apart at the joints and wing tips removed 
  • 12 c. soy sauce
  • 12 cups Italian salad dressing

Sauce:

  • 14 cups melted butter
  • 14 cups spicy pepper sauce (such as Frank's Red-hot®)
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce

Preparation of  grilled chicken 

  • In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the chicken wings, soy sauce, and Italian dressing; coat the chicken wings with the marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate for 4 hours overnight in the refrigerator 
  • Preheat an outside grill over medium-high heat and grease the grate liberally.
  • To make the sauce, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Combine the hot pepper sauce and soy sauce in a mixing bowl. Set aside after removing from the heat.
  • Remove the chicken wings from the marinade and pat them dry; discard any leftover marinade. Cook, flipping regularly, over a hot grill for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is browned and no longer pink. A thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the grilled wings. Toss the wings in the butter sauce until completely coated.
