Ingredients Required

  • 1⁄2 kilogram of delicious Italian sausage
  •  
  •  3/4 pound  of lean ground beef
  •  
  • 1/2 cup of minced onion
  •  
  • 2 smashed garlic cloves
  •  
  • 28 ounces of crushed tomatoes in one can
  •  
  • 2 cans of tomato paste, each 6 ounces
  •  
  • 6.5-ounce cans of tomato sauce, two
  •  
  • water, 1/2 cup
  •  
  • White sugar, 2 tablespoons
  •  
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of basil leaves, dried
  •  
  • fennel seeds, half a teaspoon
  •  
  • 1 teaspoon of seasoning mix
  •  
  • Salt, divided into 1 1/2 teaspoons, or to taste
  •  
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, ground
  •  
  • 4 teaspoons freshly chopped parsley
  •  
  • 12 noodles for lasagna
  •  
  • Ricotta cheese, 16 ounces
  •  
  • 1 egg
  •  
  • sliced 3/4 pound mozzarella cheese

Preparation Method

STEP 1
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, 3/4 cup
STEP 2
  • Sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic are cooked in a Dutch oven over medium heat until well-browned. Add the water, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and crushed tomatoes. Add sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons of parsley, and Italian seasoning to season. 1 1/2 hours should pass while the pot is covered and sometimes stirred.
STEP 3
  • A large saucepan of lightly salted water should be brought to a boil. For 8 to 10 minutes, cook lasagna noodles in boiling water. Noodles should be drained and rinsed in cold water. Combine the ricotta cheese, egg, remaining parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a mixing dish
STEP 4
  • Set oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees C).
STEP 5 
  • Spread 1 1/2 cups of beef sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish before assembling. Over the meat sauce, arrange 6 noodles lengthwise. One-half of the ricotta cheese mixture should be spread. Slices of mozzarella cheese should be placed on top. Add 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese on top of the mozzarella and 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce. Continue layering and finish with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan. Cover with foil, being careful not to let any of the foil touch the cheese in order to prevent sticking
STEP 6 
  • For 25 minutes, bake in a preheated oven. After 25 minutes, take the foil off and continue baking. 15 minutes to cool before serving
